QUOTES (Google search):

"TDA 1541A is the width and depth of the stage that surpasses most of the new players available on the market."

"Similar to the Sony CDP-68 and CDP-207ESD Compact Disc Players" (same service manual for all 3 models)

"Other models in the same series: CDP-250 CDP-350 CDP-450 CDP-550 CDP-750 CDP-950 CDP-227 ESD CDP-337 ESD CDP-557 ESD Sony CDP-M35 Sony CDP-M95 "

"I recently picked up a Sony CDP-68. I cannot find much info on it other that it has a TDA 1541 chip and 4x oversampling. I bought it as a lark, and it started to skip while playing, so I cleaned the lens, and lubed the rails and gears. It now plays fine. I read somewhere that it is a clone of a Sony CDP-750. If so, why make a 68? The build quality is not bad, either. Funny thing is that it seems to play better than my HK7600MkII or any CD player that I have had. Am I crazy? Anyone know anything about it? Opinions?"

"The Philips chip set in your Sony -- TDA1541 dual 16-bit DAC and oversampling filter -- was one of the best-sounding CD chip sets of its time, and it still compares favorably to the best new chip sets. I have a Magnavox CDB-650 with the same DAC and upgraded op amps, and it sounds better than most of the newer players to which I've compared it.";

"I owned a Sony CDP-750 which had excellent sonics. I frequently used it with my Carver amplifier and Klipsch La Scala speakers and it was always smooth accurate and detailed. One of the few Sonys ever built to utilize the famous Philips TDA1541 chip. If you can locate one I don't think you will be disappointed."

"CDP-750 - very cheerful TDA1541 based player. Sound quality is better than it should be!"
