Maintenance Technician

We are looking for an all rounder candidate to join as a Maintenance Technician in Montreal, Quebec for one of clients in the storage industry. A successful candidate will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the store, ensuring a safe and maintained store. You will be reporting to the Regional Manager. Duties and Responsibilities • Trouble-shooting front entrance gates. Knowledge of basic gate technology required. • Taking care of basic electrical and plumbing issues. • Some carpentry and building with metal. • Painting a variety of surfaces. • Overall maintenance for multiple sites. • Will also provide grounds-keeping and house-keeping services. • Seasonal work such as snow removal. • Building and grounds cleaning: sweeping, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, cleaning out units. • Stay current on training, processes, procedures, and policies. • Keep Regional Manager informed of any issues at assigned site/store including but not limited to maintenance, safety, etc.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of experience in maintenance in a commercial setting. Dependability is a requirement.

Language Ability (Bilingual) Must be able to read and write in English and French as job location is in Quebec.

Computer Skills Must be able to navigate a computer on a basic level.

Work/Travel Availability • Must be able to get to and from work reliably. • Must be willing to work any day of the week (Mondays to Sundays) as well as holidays. • Will be required to have access to fully licensed vehicle during work hours. Must have a current, valid drivers’ license, current applicable insurance and an acceptable driving record • Travel between locations/work various locations as the business requires.

Physical Requirements • Must be able to work inside and outside, in temperature extremes. • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb stairs as well as a 10-foot ladder and be walking/standing for up to 3 hours/day (approximately 1/3 of normal working shift). • Must be willing and able to perform light cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, wiping windows, mowing grass, shoveling snow, pulling weeds, etc. • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or move up to 50 lbs. and have the strength to routinely handle a bolt cutter, grinder and power washer, etc. • Must be able to climb a ladder

Shift timing is 8 AM - 4 PM from Monday to Friday (Weekends as required). The maintenance person would be required to be on call after hours. You will be paid 3 hours for any call you attend even if it is for 15 minutes.

Pay rate is 18$ an hour. Company will hire directly so a person must be comfortable in getting hired.

Benefits For the maintenance role, that person has the option to live in an apartment above one of their stores at no cost. He/she would only be responsible for paying for internet and/or cable. Rent, utilities, etc are covered by Storage Mart. It is not mandatory to live there, but it's an option.
