Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!

Kijiji Pet Welfare Partners:

Description

Looking to Welcome a Special Toller into Your Family? At Tollchester, we are proud to raise Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers — powerful, athletic, and beautifully balanced dogs that excel in everything they do. Tollers are known for their agility, alertness, and endless enthusiasm. Whether you’re looking for a talented hunting partner, a show ring champion, a loyal watchdog, or simply a loving companion, the Toller truly offers it all. We are currently seeking a foster-to-adopt home for one of our amazing Tollers! Through our foster program, you have the opportunity to bring home a gorgeous young Toller, become part of our extended Tollchester family, and ultimately welcome them into your life permanently. As part of the program, Tollchester retains breeding rights for a set number of litters, which are considered the dog’s “purchase price.” During this time, the dog remains under Tollchester’s ownership, and we cover all breeding-related expenses, including health clearances. For each litter, the dog will stay temporarily at Tollchester Kennels. Once the foster agreement is fulfilled, full ownership is transferred, and your Toller will be spayed to officially complete the adoption. Why do we offer this program? It allows us to continue improving and preserving the Toller breed — introducing new pedigrees, maintaining genetic diversity, and ensuring our dogs are raised in the best environment possible: a loving home. Important to know: • These dogs are not rescues — they are cherished members of our breeding program. • We are seeking families who want to be actively involved and share in the joy of being part of Tollchester’s future. • We’re looking for people who adore this breed as much as we do! If you’re ready to join Team Tollchester and help nurture one of our stunning Tollers into their best life, we would love to hear from you!
