Description

1997 GMC Sierra 1500 SL Pickup Truck With Eight Foot Bed and 5 Speed Manual Transmission. Asking $15000 obo. One of the nicest options if you’re looking for a classic square Chevy type of truck. It’s had a ton of work done and the engine is in amazing condition with tons of life left. Earlier this year, it was stolen by someone who didn’t know how to drive stick and they blew out the engine. The insurance replaced it and I have all the paperwork from the mechanic to provide with it. The previous engine had just shy of 400k km on it. It was replaced with a 1999 4.3L v6 Astro Van engine with only 165k km on it. In the process all the gaskets were replaced, a new clutch kit put in and lots of other work done. Over the past 3 years there’s been many additional updates done including: - Brand new rear cab window - Brand new drivers side parking break cable (front & rear) - Brand new drivers side valve cover - Brand new interior door handles - Brand new gas tank, sending unit and fuel filter - Brand new cap and rotor - Brand new front all season tires with lots of life still on them - Brand new aluminum drive shaft - Brand new radiator - Brand new water pump - Brand new clutch fan - Partial wiring harness replaced (I believe just the front, not the rear) - Used K&N cold air intake installed (to my understanding the only road-legal cold air intake for this model) - Rear leaf spring rebuilt (I believe it was on the passenger side but I can’t remember) There is likely some other work I’m forgetting. I did put brand new manifolds on it at one point but I believe the replacement engine’s manifolds might have been put on. The same goes with the catalytic converter. The engine sounds amazing at this point and drives beautifully. It’s a great truck for learning stick if you’re new also. Regular maintenance was always kept up with and synthetic oil used for the time I’ve had it. Has a standard cab with a 3 person bench seat. Also an 8 foot bed with liner and cover with working lock, which makes it a great work vehicle. If you were doing really heavy jobs, I’d recommend replacing the springs/suspension but they are still good enough as is. The frame is mostly in good condition and regularly undercoated. Since I got it, it has had a cross member at the back that was rusted through. But it still passed safety at that point in time because it has a heavy duty trailer hitch behind it that is taking the load for it. There is also a small rust spot in the floor on the drivers side and some rust spots in the rockers but nothing major or structural. Small crack in the windshield. See the pictures for all of this. Could use some body work to get all of this done and then it will have many more years left. Doesn’t have AC but has mounts to install a unit. Stereo is currently not working. Heat works but the fan is intermittently noisy and will need replacing. Aesthetically, the inside needs work to really bring it to life Sold as is but I don’t see it needing much to get it to pass safety. Possibly just the brakes and steering alignment if anything. Happy to introduce the purchaser to the mechanic that has done the majority of the work on it so far and the one who initially safetied it. Let me know if you have any questions.
