The 2017 $3 Heart of Our Nation Silver Coin was released by Canada to celebrate the nation’s 150th anniversary. This coin is filled with inspiring symbols that represent the rich and diverse aspects of Canada. The elements include hockey sticks and puck, snowflakes, polar bear, inukshuk, Parliament Hill, Canadian flag, maple syrup, lighthouse, lobster traps, toboggan, Canada goose, canoe, beaver, moose, black spruce tree, Beaver plane, salmon, wheat, cowboy boot, and mountains. These symbols are roughly placed in an east/west/north/south orientation to reflect their location on a Canadian map. Together, they encircle a maple leaf that is the heart of the design—and the heart of this nation. The coin is proudly engraved with “150 YEARS/ANS”. The coin is composed of about one-quarter troy ounce of 99.99% pure silver. It features a striking specimen finish, which combines brilliant and frosted relief over a lined background.
