This coin features an image of a beaver felling a birch tree. The beaver, viewed from the front with its head turned toward the right side of the coin, rises from the hard work of chopping at the birch trunk with its prominent incisors. Framing the image is an outer band featuring the word "CANADA," the date "2013," and the face value of "10 DOLLARS," as well as a small stylized beaver paw print symbol. The beaver has been a widely used symbol of Canada since the early era of fur trading, when Canadian beaver pelts were prized for fur hats in European high society.
